Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Hush (“we”, “us”) is operated by a sole proprietor based in South Africa, trading as Hush. Contact: hello@hushcompanion.com.

2. You must be 18 or older

Hush is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service. By using Hush you confirm that you are 18 or older. We operate an age gate and may ask for confirmation at any time. If we learn that a minor has used the service, we will close the account and delete the associated data.

3. These are fictional AI companions — not people

Every companion on Hush is a fictional, computer-generated character. They are not real people, and no real person’s likeness, voice, or identity is used. The companions are language-model software; they can be wrong, can misunderstand you, and can produce inaccurate output. They are not therapists, doctors, lawyers, financial advisers, or emergency services, and nothing they say is professional advice.

If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency number. Do not rely on Hush for anything that matters to your safety or health.

4. Your account

You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. One account per person. Do not share, sell, or transfer your account. You must not attempt to access another user’s account or data.

5. Credits and payment

Text chat with memory is free. Some features (voice messages, generated images, extended sessions, additional companions) require credits. Credits are purchased in packs priced in US dollars and paid for in cryptocurrency through our payment gateway. All payments are made through the platform, so every purchase is recorded against your account — we do not take payment any other way, and we cannot refund a payment we did not process.

Credits are a prepaid balance for use inside Hush. They are not money, are not transferable between accounts, carry no cash value, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Prices may change, but a change will never affect credits you have already bought. Refunds are dealt with in our Refunds & Credits policy.

Cryptocurrency payments are irreversible by nature. Once a crypto payment is confirmed on the blockchain it cannot be reversed by us or by your wallet provider. Please be certain of your purchase and the amount before you pay.

6. What you may not do

You agree not to use Hush to:

• break any law that applies to you;
• create, request, or attempt to obtain sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises minors in any way;
• attempt to use a companion to impersonate a real, identifiable person, or to create content that presents a real person in a false or damaging way;
• generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that incites violence or hatred;
• attack, probe, overload, or attempt to bypass the security, age gate, rate limits, or payment systems of the service, or access it by automated means;
• resell the service, scrape it, or use its output to train a competing model without our written permission.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and may report unlawful conduct to the relevant authorities.

7. Content and ownership

The companions, their names, faces, voices, personalities, artwork and the software behind them belong to us. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use Hush for your own private enjoyment.

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us the limited licence we need to operate the service — to store your messages and memory notes, to send them to our model providers to generate replies, and to keep the service secure. We do not sell your conversations, and we do not publish them. See our Privacy Policy.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Hush running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and a companion’s behaviour may be tuned over time. We may suspend the service for maintenance, or discontinue it. If we discontinue Hush permanently we will refund unused credits on a pro-rata basis.

9. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Hush is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from reliance on anything a companion said. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law that cannot be excluded.

10. Ending your use

You may stop using Hush and request deletion of your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms. Clauses about ownership, liability and governing law survive termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
